We are proud to announce the launch of the National Nanny Register, a major step forward in the professional recognition of nannies in the UK. Developed by the National Nanny Association, this register is designed to raise industry standards, build trust with families, and support the career development of qualified, professional nannies.
Who Can Join the National Nanny Register?
To join the register, nannies must demonstrate they meet essential professional criteria, reflecting their commitment to high standards of care and safeguarding. You’ll need to provide evidence of the following:
Qualifications
- A Level 3 or above in Childcare and Education, BTEC Level 3 in Childcare,
OR - A Level 3 in Homebased Childcare (or an equivalent, nationally recognised Level 3 childcare qualification).
Enhanced DBS Check
- An Enhanced DBS Check that is registered on the Update Service.
Paediatric First Aid
- A valid 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate (completed within the last 3 years).
Food Hygiene Training
- A Level 2 or Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate (completed within the last 3 years).
Nanny Insurance
- Proof of current Public Liability Insurance specific to nannies.
What Will I Receive?
Once accepted, you’ll receive:
- A National Nanny Register Certificate of official registration.
- A professional Nanny Register pin badge to proudly display your status.
These symbols demonstrate your commitment to excellence and professional practice in home-based childcare.
